Letterpress Communications Named a 2026 Top Virginia Employer for Interns

Farmville-Based Marketing Firm Recognized for Internship Experience

FARMVILLE, Va. (April 9, 2026) – Letterpress Communications, a woman-owned marketing firm headquartered in Farmville, Va., has been recognized as a 2026 Top Virginia Employer for Interns by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) honoring its community-powered approach to developing the next generation of marketing professionals.

Through a partnership with Longwood University, Letterpress regularly offers in-person, paid internships designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience. Interns contribute to active client projects across specialties, including social media, storytelling, advertising and multimedia content production. Simultaneously, they work alongside team members at every level — including company leadership. By collaborating across the full team, interns gain insight into multiple areas of marketing while also immersed in day-to-day agency operations.

“We strive to give interns a true picture of what it’s like to work in marketing,” said Letterpress Communications Director of Community Success Jennifer Kinne. “We’ve built our internship program to be fully integrated into our team and client work. Interns don't just observe. They contribute in meaningful ways. That involvement, combined with a focus on community, helps them understand not just how marketing works but how it can make a real impact.

Internships at Letterpress

Since its founding in 2015, Letterpress has offered internship opportunities designed to provide hands-on experience. Interns contribute directly to marketing efforts that support businesses and organizations across rural communities in Southern and Southwest Virginia. From social media content and search engine optimization research to event support and campaign strategy, many of their contributions remain active in client marketing efforts beyond the duration of their internship. Significantly, interns often maintain relationships with Letterpress, returning as contracted creatives or joining the team in part- or full-time roles.

“Letterpress Communications made my internship experience incredibly rewarding, giving me valuable hands-on experience in the marketing field,” said Maria Chavez-Alonso, a former Letterpress intern and current Longwood student who now works with the agency as a contracted creative. “From shadowing Jenn Kinne to collaborating with different team members, I gained insight into what a typical day in marketing looks like. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity, as it has helped shape my professional growth.”

A first-time recipient of the Top Virginia Employer for Interns award, Letterpress joins eight other employers recognized in GO Virginia Region 3. The honor reflects the agency’s ongoing investment in community-centered learning. Additionally, it underscores Letterpress' commitment to supporting students and partners across Southern Virginia. SCHEV will recognize award recipients in Richmond on July 30, 2026, at Virginia Intern Day, a statewide celebration of work-based learning.
