Letterpress Communications Earns Two First-Place Awards from National Federation of Press Women

Woman-led Virginia agency proves rural marketing can compete on the national stage

FARMVILLE, Va. (September 15, 2025) – Rural marketing firm Letterpress Communications has earned national recognition for its community-powered work. The woman-owned agency won dual first-place awards at the National Federation of Press Women’s (NFPW) Professional Communications Contest, held September 13 in Golden, Colo.

Letterpress earned top honors for two standout projects: a Google advertising campaign for Highland County, Va., designed to attract new residents, and a social media relaunch for Monument by Green Front, a lifestyle brand of Farmville-based Green Front Furniture. Both campaigns reflect Letterpress’ commitment to strategic, story-driven marketing that fuels sustainable growth for communities and businesses alike.

“I’m so proud of our team and the communities we serve,” said Letterpress CEO Alexandra Veatch. “There’s often an assumption that high-impact marketing only comes from big cities or big agencies. But we’ve always believed that work rooted in rural communities can be just as strategic, creative and effective. These wins are a meaningful reminder that rural voices have power — and a place — on the national stage.”

The Letterpress team received the NFPW’s top award in the Advertising Campaign category, for “Make Your Move: Highland County,” a 2024 digital campaign aimed at attracting new residents to the rural mountain community. Through targeted Google Ads, a dedicated landing page and a vacation giveaway, the campaign, led by Account Executive Chris Cook, brought more than 52,000 new users to the website, generated over 1.3 million ad impressions and drove more than 100,000 clicks — all with a total ad spend of just over $3,000. For Highland County, the campaign was more than just clicks. It was a step toward long-term population growth and community sustainability.

Letterpress also received first place in the Social Media Presence – Corporate or For-Profit category for its work with Monument by Green Front, a lifestyle brand launched by Green Front Furniture. The campaign focused on relaunching the brand’s Instagram and TikTok channels with a fresh strategy rooted in story and style — centered around Green Front President and CEO Richard “Den” Crallé III’s renovation of his historic Richmond home. Led by Director of Community Success Jennifer Kinne with support from Director of Video Martin Montgomery, the team produced 150+ posts that generated more than 1.3 million total views, 28,000+ engagements and over 9,000 new followers in 2024. The campaign showed how authentic storytelling and smart visuals can turn a furniture brand into a community builder.

“This project has always been about more than a renovation,” said Crallé. “It’s about being a careful steward of a home with real architectural significance — reimagining it for how we live today while also honoring its past. The beauty of 2315 Monument Avenue speaks for itself, but Letterpress helped us tell its story in a way that feels both thoughtful and authentic. Together, we’ve stayed true to the home’s integrity, William Bottomley’s original vision, and the opportunity to weave architecture, design and preservation into a story that resonates with people. Monument by Green Front has grown into something bigger than an Instagram account. It’s a shared investment in the legacy and future of this historic Richmond icon.”

The first-place NFPW awards mark Letterpress’ sixth national win in five years. Out of more than 1,900 entries nationwide, 13 Virginia Professional Communicators’ members received 18 national awards, including eight first-place wins. Letterpress earned two of those top honors — proof that a woman-led team from rural Virginia can inspire engagement, shape conversations and deliver national-level results grounded in community-powered strategy.

NFPW is a national organization of professionals cultivating careers in communications, including print and digital journalism, freelance writing, emerging media, book publishing, public relations, marketing, graphic design, photography and advertising, along with radio and television.
